Mood:
Salubrious - wholesome; healthy
What a blessign when Sunday comes! I teach K-4 and K-5 kindergarten Sunday School. We have been studying about Creation. It is wholesome to remember our Creator. It is amazing to think about the creation of the sun, moon, stars, grass, trees, the animals and insects, birds and fish and to ponder the creation of the first man and woman. As I was talking about the things God made, I asked the children where did wood come from. One young man spoke up and said, "from the wood store." It was so healthy and wholesome for the children to hear..."In the beginning God created the heavans and the earth."
Our pastor was out of town this Sunday, so one of our deacons preached. He taught on the question that Jesus asked: "Whom do men say that the Son of Man am?" Matthew 16:13) Peter delared this wholesome and healthy answer:"Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." (Matthew 16:16) This is the foundation of Christianity...that JESUSIS GOD!
Believing this truth has made my life healthy and wholesome.
CS Lewis said, that people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic--on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg--or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.
C. S. Lewis, from _Mere_Christianity_
English essayist & juvenile novelist (1898 - 1963)
Jesus is either Lord, a liar or a lunatic.
WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?
Sunay evening was a wholseome reminder from
2 Chronicles 7:13-14
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
It is healthy for me to be humble,to pray, to seek God's face and to turn from my wicked ways.
